Mapas de Acción (Action Maps) is an exhibition project by artist and activist Yolanda Domínguez (Madrid 1977) where, through a montage of interrelating items, she presents a selection of her art actions with a strong feminist, social and political slant, going back to 2009, when Young girl offers herself as caught the attention of the media and the social networks.

This detailed overview of her projects is presented at San Antonio Abad-CAAM through videos, photos, texts, and material from social networks and the media. Viewers are placed before a work that transcends the usual channels of creation, visibility and circulation of contemporary art, as it is posted directly on the most up-to-date, contemporary channels of the internet, such as social networks, blogs, and video and photo websites.

The public can view works including Begging for a Chanel (2010), Poses (2011), Fashion Victims (2013), I am not just a bodyRegistro – Registry (2014), Accessible and AccessoryKids vs. Fashion (2015), Total CorrectionNo tocar, no matar, no violar, este cuerpo es mío (y de nadie más) – Don’t touch, don’t kill, don’t rape; this body is mine (and no one else’s) (2016).

But Yolanda Domínguez is not here simply to showcase her action maps system. Right from the start she agreed to visit us and live in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for a while to gain first-hand knowledge of the multiple, complex situations of the city that houses our art spaces. To do this, she interviewed dozens of people – ordinary citizens, activists, sociologists and representatives from collectives – so she could add to her Action Maps exhibition, producing an action generated and activated from Gran Canaria based on her experience in a space that is not only an island, but also a place of contradictions and continuous encounters.

We invite the public to join in this latest action offered by the artist in the San Antonio Abad-CAAM exhibition rooms.
