Exposición CAAM 'Legado Juan Hidalgo'

This exhibition of the Canarian artist Juan Hidalgo Codorniú (1927-2018), an essential figure of Spanish conceptual art of indisputable international renown, presents a selection of thirty-two works from a highly relevant corpus in the artistic and visual creation of our avant-garde.

This notable and recent acquisition by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria enriches its artistic heritage with the most important collection of works by the artist, establishing CAAM as an essential reference point for researching and showcasing the work of this pivotal figure in the avant-garde movements of our country.

Juan Hidalgo is one of the most extensively represented creators in terms of his career and artistic contribution in the CAAM collection, with key works from his most significant and influential moments in Spanish conceptual art.

The CAAM–Cabildo of Gran Canaria Collection already included forty-two of his works, which means that after this acquisition, the total number has risen to one hundred and twenty-six.

Under the title Legado Juan Hidalgo, we present a selection of works that exemplify the multidisciplinary and intermedia nature of the artist through his photographic actions, objects, environments, installations, and scores, all representative of his transgressive and avant-garde creative universe.
