This is the first exhibition in Spain broadly dedicated to the Canarian artist resident in Switzerland, Helen Acosta. In her works can be appreciated a common characteristic that runs through each project and series, no matter the specific theme, subtlety. In her artistic corpus Acosta explores that delicacy arising from the less visible, from what can hardly be seen or recognised, although it is in our memories and vital experiences. These works are full of life, since the artist invites us to revive those ephemeral sensations that accompanied us once, but are important.

In Tanta lejanía (So far away) underlies the Duchampian concept of the infrathin, the idea that beauty is present in the contingent, in the poetics of desapeareness, in the possibility itself that something occurs… or not. Fragility as a precious aesthetic and object of art itself is a component that underlies in the works presented in this exhibition, for the first time, establishing a dialogue amongst them and running through decades in Acosta’s work.

Facing the pressure of an exhausting present, her creations invite us to review the beauty of the everyday, of the almost unseen, but full of emotions. Acosta’s work bets for beauty, care, sensitivity, fragility and affection. In front of the stereotype that the feminine is ‘sensitive’ -as if this was a negative quality-, works as these should be vindicated for men and women, precisely for this reason of being a counterpointto a globalised, capitalist, extractor and patriarchal world,  that has not paid attention to the beauty contained in little things. Tanta lejanía (So far away) escapes from the visual saturation invading our screens and our daily life. Here we can find rest, above all.
